Velez let MassLive know that the traveler was a 50-year-elderly person went to Philadelphia. He was permitted to keep the ax yet needed to move it to his handled baggage.
Velez said this was the third gun location at the Portland Global Jetport in Portland this year.
The disclosure came only days in front of a declaration from TSA that it has recorded a record number of guns found at air terminal security designated spots cross country this year.
As of Dec. 16, a TSA official statement expresses, the organization has kept 6,301 guns from moving beyond security designated spots this year – adding that over 88% of them were stacked. That is up from 5,972 guns recognized at security designated spots a year ago.
